VW Scirocco R20T in the Works

Powered by a 245hp 2.0 liter turbo engine
The Scirocco Coupe has been well received by the public, but the automotive
enthusiast will always demand just a little bit more. A demand
Volkswagen are more than happy to meet. A top-spec Scirocco Coupe
carrying the label ”R20T” is rumoured to be in the works. It get its
name from the 245hp 2.0 liter turbo power unit that is set to be housed
in the engine bay – the same unit currently employed in the Audi S3.
According to a report by carmagazine the Scirocco R20T will
draw its inspiration from the GT24 race car (pictured), giving it an
overall more agressive look to it. It will accelerate from 0-62mph in
under 6 seconds before reaching an electronically limited top speed of
155mph. U.K. Pricing is expected to start in the £25K range and it will
be launched early in 2010.
